why the two styles?
| version 1 |
version2 |
- for aftermarket wheels
- requires flipping hub centric ring
|
- OEM-style taperd bore wheels only!
- does NOT work on rear of FWD VW/Audi
|
Version 1 and Version 2 of the 8mm spacer availble for Audi/VW. Note the addion of a hub extension on the Version 2 spacer. The larger chamfer/taper on this spacer will only fit OEM or OEM hub bore shaped wheels. If your wheels have an OEM bore you will want to choose the version 2 spacer. If you are using an aftermarket wheel which uses a hub centric ring you will need to use a version 1 spacer.

| Note the small amount of hub that still extends past the spacer. This is enough for a wheel to center on if using after-market wheels with hub centric rings. Simply flip the ring 180 to the side where there is no chamfer/taper. Install back in the wheel as shown on the right. The wheel will now center on the hub. You will need to check your wheels to verify that the hub centric ring can be installed backwards, leaving a sharp edge to engage with the hub. |

| The Version 2 series 8mm spacer provides an extended hub bore that is only compatible with OEM style hub bores. The larger taper is found on most OEM and some aftermarket wheels (like BBS). As demonstrated in the photo on the right, an aftermarket hub centric ring does not provide enough taper to center on the spacer. However, note that it has been discovered that some aftermarket rings can be machined to accept the OEM sized hub bore. If this is the case you, may be able to take your hub-centric rings to a local machine shop and have them modified. ECS can perform this modification on in-house installs. |
