| Remove the headlight switch by pushing in and turning clockwise on the switch. The switch will now pull straight out from the dashboard. |
Next pry loose the dash board side panel. Note the location of the spring clips on this panel. Pry from the closeset edge and the top of the panel. It will then hinge out from where it meets with the door jam. As with all panels like this, care must be take not to break any clips. |

| Remove the two torx screws from the lower left side trip piece. The panel will now pull loose from the top. |
Remove the single torx screw from the top of the Dead Pedal. Slide the pedal up and then twist the right side towards you to remove. |
| Note the clip on the left hand side of the Dead Pedal and how it clips into the lower left kick panel. Noting this will simplify removal and re-installation. |
Thread one end of the ECS fog light jumper wire down thru the headlight switch mount. Reach from either below or the side and pull the wire down towards the hood release lever. |
| Pull the wire down in front of the hood release lever. With the dead pedal removed you will be able to pull up on the kick panel to help feed the wire thru. |
Continue running the wire down the running board. A small screw driver and credit card work well here. You can optionally pull the running board up, but is not necessary. |
| On Golfs, run the wire up over the seat belt hold down. |
...and so it goes. |
| Unscrew the two trim caps under the drivers side rear seat. |
Run the wire on the "outside vehicle" side of the two trim retaining pins. |
| like above. |
Feed the wire up under the rear deck hatch trim piece. Push at least one foot of the wire up under the trim. |
| From the trunk area, reach under the rear deck cover and push the carpet to one side. You should see the wire that was pushed from the other side. Pull the slack thru. |
Run the remaining length of wire behind the CD bracket and carpet. |
| Disconnect the tail light and remove the bulb assembley by squeezing in on the to retaining clips. |
Remove the small circle of plastic from the rear fog lens housing. Be careful not to let it drop into the taillight! |

| Back at the head light swtich, install the remaining end of the jumper wire into the pin 9 location of the plug. If a wire happens to already be installed here (pre 2000 cars), cut the end of the jumper wire and use a ScotchLock wire tap to connect to the the existing wire from pin 9. |
Reinstall all the dash panels, dead pedal and light switch. Flip the switch, feel the joy. Remember; the rear fog light is to be used only during limited visability weather conditions. It is dangerous to use the rear fog while driving when the weather is clear. |
