The intercooler is a heat exchanger much like the radiator. It removes heat from the intake air that is being pushed through it, by passing it through a finned core that draws heat outward. This removes excess heat gained from passing through the hot turbocharger and being compressed. Doing so increases reliability, fuel consumption, performance, and peak power.
While the stock unit is more than adequate for a stock daily driver, it doesn't help the avid enthusiast.
Keeping intake temps lower for longer means that you won't suffer heat soak after only a lap or two of your track day. It also means those 1/4 mile pulls will mean more since your intercooler isnt totally worthless by the time you get to the starting line.
- All Aluminum construction
- 20% larger core over stock
- Thin-tipped inner tubes and tall outer fins reduce air resistance, while the rate of heat transfer is increased due to greater air flow.
- Specially treated surface to substantially increase heat transfer.
