Your Mercedes-Benz is a wonderful vehicle to drive, smooth as glass on the road, yet nimble enough to make evasive maneuvers should the situation dictate such. This is accomplished with an ingenious system called AIRMATIC (Semi-Active Air Suspension).

The AIRMATIC system uses hydro-pneumatic shock absorbers which can continuously change their damping characteristics based upon signals sent from the vehicles multitude of body sensors and control units. This drastically reduces body roll in cornering, accelerating and braking.

Unfortunately, the hydro-pneumatic shock absorbers in your Mercedes-Benz will not last forever. Over time, they will begin to leak, no longer being capable of maintaining the pressures required for the AIRMATIC System to function. Once these shock absorbers begin to leak, they must be replaced in order to maintain functionality of the AIRMATIC System.
