It’s common knowledge that most vehicles require maintenance in order to keep them in good condition, such as oil changes and other various items. Yet, one area that most people seem to overlook is the brake rotors. After all, just replace the pads and it’s all good right?
If that’s the philosophy you live by, it might be time to change, as brake rotors are just as important as pads at stopping your vehicle. Brake rotors are the parts within the wheels of an automobile which brake pads squeeze in order to slow the rotation of the wheel and bring the vehicle to a stop.
There are several ways in which your brake rotors can get damaged. Excessive rust is a hazard in rotors made with iron, but warping seems to be the most common issue. When a rotor becomes warped, excessive heat causes a disproportionate expansion of the braking surface of the rotor. This can lead to vibration in the steering wheel and elsewhere while braking.
With business commencing in 1978, the company has grown from an importer distributing products from a single van to a multi-national group employing over 400 staff with manufacturing in three countries and worldwide sales in excess of $100 million and is now known as the FREEMAN GROUP of Companies. When you buy EBC brakes, you can be sure of their quality and refinement. The group product range comprises brake discs, clutches and disc brake pads for motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles, mountain bikes, go karts and automobiles.
When replacing your rotors, it’s best to check out some pads, calipers and the brake lines as well. After all, new rotors aren’t going to make much of a difference if your pads are worn. If you need any replacement component for your braking system, look under the “braking” section.
