Audi B5 S4 2.7T PCV Assembly "Spider Hose"
The breather, also commonly called the PCV or oil separator, allows the crankcase to expel air without losing any oil. This system is designed to give gases a way to escape in a controlled manner from the crankcase.
Overtime, contamination may cause reduced airflow and cracks can occur in the housing. If your car is experiencing a loss in boost pressure or a decrease in performance with rough idle, the PCV assembly is a likely culprit.
