BMW E83 X3 M54 DISA Valve

The E83 X3 has proven to be very solid vehicle with exceptional styling, but there is one issue for the M54 3.0L engine, the DISA valve.

This particular valve controls the path of air into the intake manifold - this is why the most common sign of failure is poor idling. When you have idling problems, low fuel mileage and a lack of reliable performance are usually part of the problem as well.

If your BMW experiences these symptoms, don't wait to fix it. In some cases, parts of the DISA--including a metal spreader pin--can be sucked into your engine, causing serious engine damage.
