BMW Z3/Z4 M54 DISA Valve
The Z3 and Z4 have proven to be very solid vehicles with exceptional styling, but there is one issue for the M54 2.5L engine, the DISA valve.
This valve controls the path of air into the intake manifold, thats why the most common sign of failure is having idle issues. When you have issues idling then high fuel milage and lack of performance are usually part of the problem.
If your BMW experiences these symptoms, don't wait to fix it. In some cases, parts of the DISA--including a metal spreader pin--can be sucked into your engine, causing serious engine damage.
