INSTRUCTIONS:
CAUTION: Mount tester away from areas where gasoline vapors are present.
CONVENTIONAL POINT-TYPE AND ELECTRONIC IGNITION SYSTEMS:
Pull the ignition coil wire from the center cavity of the distributor cap and connect it to the tester’s terminal. Connect the tester to a good engine ground using the alligator clip. Adjust the tester to the proper kilovolt setting for the engine (see chart). Turn the ignition key to the ON position, then crank the engine using a remote starter switch or a helper. Watch the tester.
CAUTION: Do not touch the tester while cranking.
If you see no spark, the ignition system is the source of the no-start condition. Check the resistance of the coil wire first (typically, this should be less than 10,000 ohms), then check the primary ignition system (coil, ballast resistor, electronic module and pickup or breaker points and condenser).
If spark is present and sufficiently strong, the fuel system or internal engine parts are probably the trouble.
INTEGRAL COIL HEI AND DISTRIBUTORLESS IGNITION SYSTEMS:
Remove any spark plug wire from a plug and connect it to the tester’s terminal. Follow steps 2 through 5 above.
TO CHECK SPARK TIMING WITH CONVENTIONAL IGNITION SYTEMS:
Attach tester as above. Turn the ignition key to ON. Using a suitable wrench on the front crankshaft bolt, rotate the crankshaft until the timing marks on the pulley are about to line up. Slowly continue rotating the crankshaft until you see/hear the spark occur. If the timing marks are lined up, ignition timing is close enough to specifications to allow the engine to start.
NOTE: Cylinders fire only every other crankshaft revolution near the top of the compression stroke, so you may have to rotate the crankshaft through two revolutions. Or, remove #1 spark plug and feel for pressure when cranking to identify the compression stroke.
TIPS: Removing all of the spark plugs will make rotating the crankshaft easier.

New/Unused Product Returns
ECS Tuning will accept returns for unused products within 90 days of the ship date for a refund to the original payment method used. The customer is responsible for the return shipping costs and fees. If selecting to use a prepaid shipping label, the shipping cost will be deducted from the total refunded amount. All new/unused products must be new, unused and must be in the original packaging, including labeling, manuals, hardware, etc. Special order parts are non-refundable.
In the event that we find an error on our website or on behalf of an ECS Tuning Representative, we will provide a return shipping label from the original delivery location.
Refused Packages
Any domestic orders that are returned to ECS Tuning as refused by receiver or non-deliverable will be subject to a return handling fee and will be processed as a return in compliance with our standard return policy, including a 15% restocking fee.
Any international orders that are refused at the time of delivery will be subject to carrier abandonment of the package, at which time the ordered products would be discarded by the carrier. The customer will not be refunded for the value of the order and the discarded products are no longer retrievable.

Please note: Refunds will be processed to the original payment method used on the order or to an in store credit, respective to the type of return that is made as well as any pre-existing arrangements with an ECS Tuning Customer Service Representative. In the event that multiple forms of payment were used, we will refund the value to an in store credit. In the event that a return label is provided, these charges may be deducted from the total refund you receive.
Original shipping costs are non-refundable and the buyer is responsible for return shipping charges. ECS Tuning will not accept COD deliveries.
All in store credit balances will expire after one year from the original purchase date.
