The oil-based cooling & lubrication system on your Porsche is engineered to be as effective and efficient as possible. The oil not only needs to flow through the engine, it also needs to be kept clean and cool.
One of the components that helps with this is the engine oil cooler. The oil cooler is used to lower the temperature of the engine oil to prevent the engine oil from losing its protection and lubrication characteristics as well as keeping the engine within its ideal operating temperature range.
Over the years though, this oil cooler can become damaged and begin to leak due to its exposure to road debris and the elements. If your engine oil cooler has started to leak, it must be replaced in order to keep you lubrication system functioning properly.
If you are replacing your engine oil cooler, be sure you have everything you need to do the job, including enough engine oil to top off what is lost when this cooler is replaced. ECS Tuning carries a full line of engine lubrication system parts as well as engine oil for your BMW so that you can keep it running well for years to come.
