The B48 SneedSpeed Crate Engine is a fully assembled long block replacement engineered by SneedSpeed for F-series MINI Cooper S models equipped with the turbocharged B48 engine. It is designed for owners who want to eliminate common factory weak points and install a proven, purpose-built foundation matched to how the car is actually used.
Depending on configuration and supporting modifications, expected output ranges from approximately 220–260 wheel horsepower in Street form, 300–350 wheel horsepower in Super Sport form, and 400+ wheel horsepower in Race form, with power capability governed by airflow, fueling, turbocharger selection, and calibration rather than short-block limitations.
This is not a collection of parts. It is a complete engine system built around a clear progression path—allowing customers to trade up in performance without guesswork or unnecessary replacement.
One Engine Program — Three Performance Levels
The B48 SneedSpeed Crate Engine is offered in three configurations:
Street
Super Sport
Race
Each level is engineered intentionally. The differences are driven by internal component specification, valvetrain strategy, and airflow capability—not marketing labels.
Each tier exists for a specific use case.

Every B48 SneedSpeed Crate Engine is assembled to the same baseline quality and validation standards:
Fully rebuilt B48 aluminum engine block
New pistons, rings, bearings, gaskets, and seals
Balanced rotating assembly
Corrected known B48 wear and failure points
SneedSpeed assembly, clearance, and inspection standards

Build Levels Explained
Street Series — OEM+ Reliability
The Street build is designed for daily-driven vehicles and lightly modified applications where longevity, smooth operation, and factory-like drivability are the priority.

This configuration provides a clean, dependable reset of the B48 platform and is ideal for stock vehicles, mild tuning, and long-term daily use.
Super Sport Series — Street & Track Balance
The Super Sport build is engineered for performance-focused street cars and mixed street/track use where higher load capacity and responsiveness are required.

The Race build is designed for aggressive tuning, high-RPM operation, and track-focused use where airflow and valvetrain control are critical.

The Race engine shares the same forged bottom end as the Super Sport build, with performance differentiation coming from head work, camshaft profile, and valvetrain strategy.
Does not include the turbo, injectors, or High-Pressure Fuel Pump (HPFP). Does not includes fuel rails, long block system only. Please see pictures!!

All engines come with a 1 year warranty against manufacturer defects. This does not include user caused failures from tuning, over rev, over boost, negligence or installation labor. All warranty claims and replacements will be at the sole discretion of SneedSpeed.net. All engines must be returned to SneedSpeed at the owners expense for warranty claim assessment. Warranty does not cover installation labor or other associated parts. Warranty is only for the engine internally lubricated parts only.
Not for sale or use in the state of California on any pollution-controlled vehicle as per the California Air Resources Board.

All you need is your order number and email address.
New/Unused Product Returns
ECS Tuning will accept returns for unused products within 90 days of the ship date for a refund to the original payment method used. The customer is responsible for the return shipping costs and fees. If selecting to use a prepaid shipping label, the shipping cost will be deducted from the total refunded amount. All new/unused products must be new, unused and must be in the original packaging, including labeling, manuals, hardware, etc. Special order parts are non-refundable.
In the event that we find an error on our website or on behalf of an ECS Tuning Representative, we will provide a return shipping label from the original delivery location.
Refused Packages
Any domestic orders that are returned to ECS Tuning as refused by receiver or non-deliverable will be subject to a return handling fee and will be processed as a return in compliance with our standard return policy, including a 15% restocking fee.
Any international orders that are refused at the time of delivery will be subject to carrier abandonment of the package, at which time the ordered products would be discarded by the carrier. The customer will not be refunded for the value of the order and the discarded products are no longer retrievable.

ECS Tuning now offers an online returns solution! To get started, simply log into your ECS Tuning account, Click the "View Orders" button on the My Account home page and select the order that you wish to make a return on to begin. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to our Customer Service Team for assistance!
Please note: Refunds will be processed to the original payment method used on the order or to an in store credit, respective to the type of return that is made as well as any pre-existing arrangements with an ECS Tuning Customer Service Representative. In the event that multiple forms of payment were used, we will refund the value to an in store credit. In the event that a return label is provided, these charges may be deducted from the total refund you receive.
Original shipping costs are non-refundable and the buyer is responsible for return shipping charges. ECS Tuning will not accept COD deliveries.
All in store credit balances will expire after one year from the original purchase date.
