BMW's Valvetronic variable valve lift mechanism actually replaces conventional throttle-body controlled power delivery. An electronically actuated eccentric shaft varies the intake valve lift height when you press down on the accelerator pedal, regulating power. Poor fuel economy, engine power loss, and starting difficulty are just a few of the symptoms of a failing ES sensor.

Most 335 N54 owners are taking advantage of finally having an engine worthy of modifications from BMW. Start by getting rid of the weak stock diverter valves and upgrade to an ECS blow off valve kit to handle all boost levels reliably. Next ad the Snow Performance methanol injection kit. While the 1 & 3 Series are capable of sustained, high-performance driving, its suspension system is not without flaws.
