Everywhere there is a seam on your engine, there is the potential for and oil leak. This is prevented through the use of gaskets and seals. One such gasket that prevents oil leaks is the valve cover gasket. This gasket is used to seal the gap between the valve cover and the cylinder head, however, since this gasket is made of rubber it has a tendency to become brittle, crack and start to leak due to its constant exposure to heat and engine oil.

Tire pressure monitoring is a convenient feature - when it's working properly. Too often, when the tire pressure light illuminates in your BMW, the cause has nothing to do with the pressure inside your tire. A worn tire pressure sensor is usually the culprit, sending false readings to the ECU, causing unnecessary concern to the driver. The impact driver is a fast and effective way to remove tight or corroded screws and bolts, reducing the chance of rounding off--or rounding out--the fastener head. Insert a slotted or Phillips head screwdriver bit into the driver. Place the screwdriver bit into screw head, and strike the driver with a hammer. The impact drives the bit inward as it rotates the screw, breaking it loose. Reverse the tool to tighten fasteners. For stubborn bolts, remove the black screwdriver bit adapter head, and replace it with any 3/8 - inch drive socket.

BMW's Valvetronic variable valve lift mechanism actually replaces conventional throttle-body controlled power delivery. To secure shocks and struts to their mounts, the retaining nut must be torqued to its proper specification using a torque wrench. Strut nut sockets allow for the use of an allen wrench to hold the damper shaft while utilizing your torque wrench on the socket to achieve proper torque. An improper torque value may result in premature mount failure - or worse. Some aftermarket strut nut sizes differ from what was originally found on the vehicle.
