The VANOS system in the S54 inline-six engine is a finely-tuned variable valve timing adjuster, relying on high pressure oil to function effectively. This high pressure oil is filtered to remove impurities in the oil, which may otherwise damage the expensive unit, turning it into an expensive paperweight. A clogged filter results in oil starvation: a no-no for VANOS. Servicing the VANOS filter at regular 30k mile intervals will help ensure this does not come to pass.

A lesser known feature of the highest caliber performance cars has nothing to do with engine power output, suspension dynamics, or build materials. Almost every truly distinguished European sports car utilizes a limited-slip style differential. While an open differential effectively accomplishes the task of allowing one wheel to spin faster than the other around corners, during power delivery, this behavior is not always desirable.

An unfortunate consequence of the modern closed PCV/breather system is the unintended ingestion of oil vapor and carbon into the intake tract. The E36 M3 is very sensitive to the ride height in the rear when it comes to how it looks. Installing "regular" sport springs the rear of the M3 can look too "high" or too "low" - depending on the spring pads, wheels, and even depending on the weight of aftermarket stereo equipment. Turner decided that offering a kit with height adjustment cups would be the best way to tune in your ride height in the rear. This kit has a fixed front drop of 1.5". The rear ride height is adjustable from 1.0" - 1.75".
