On the B6 S4, a check valve stuck in the open position will drain hydraulic lifters and chain tensioners of oil when the engine is turned off, forcing the car to start with incorrect tolerances in the cylinder head. A rattling sound heard during startup is a typical sign of check valve failure. ECS assembled Oil Check Valve Service Kits include both replacement OEM VW/Audi check valves, a valley pan gasket, oil filter adapter gasket, oil spray valve, and both intake manifold gaskets for a thorough cylinder head servicing.

Wheel bearings will need replaced for a number of reasons, the most common being normal wear. If there is a loud, rough, metal-to-metal roaring noise while driving, it's likely that the bearing has failed. A simple way to check your bearing is to lift the wheel off the ground and try to move the tire back and forth, by pushing the top and bottom of the tire in. If there is play, this commonly means the wheel bearing has failed.

Is your 2.7T throwing Exhaust Gas Temperature sensor engine codes? When 2.7T EGT sensors fail electrically, they commonly store diagnostic trouble codes for electrical shorts-to-ground or voltage.
