Precisely balanced turbochargers are a key critical factor to become a TTE upgrade unit as longevity and performance are paramount. Good balance improves acoustics also. Subsequent care is taken with all TTE turbochargers to achieving high balance standards. Firstly parts are balanced at slow speeds up to 2800RPM in multiple planes using a single parts machine, then components are assembled, and then the CHRA are dynamically balanced, but this time depending on the application at up to 250,000 RPM in multiple planes using an in house VSR machine to acquire the ultimate equilibrium, to a standard far higher than OEM. Each turbocharger is supplied with a serial numbered balance test result document. This makes the cooler an easy target for impact, which can prove catastrophic as the stock belly pan is designed from a flexible plastic material. We've heard stories of small branches, scrap pieces that fell from trucks to large ice chunks impact the cooler immediately draining the car of its oil. If you don't catch this right away this could cause serious internal engine damage due to oil starvation. This skid plate requires no modification and mounts using the existing factory hardware. Using a trim seal to press against the oil cooler allows the airflow to pull heat from the cooler the same way the OE belly pan was designed.
