ECS engineers have created a performance clutch kit designed with the enthusiast in mind, meaning you get all the benefits of a single mass flywheel without the drawbacks. The stock dual mass flywheel is designed using the weight to smooth out the clutch engagement which means in most cases going to a single mass they develop a chatter and hard shifting. On the B7 S4, a check valve stuck in the open position will drain hydraulic lifters and chain tensioners of oil when the engine is turned off, forcing the car to start with incorrect tolerances in the cylinder head. A rattling sound heard during start up is a typical sign of check valve failure.
