Located on the factory intercooler end tank, the Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor provides boost pressure information to the engine control unit to calculate air density for determining the engine’s air mass flow rate. A faulty MAP sensor can upset the fuel mixture and ignition timing, causing a surge, rough idle, and a rich fuel condition which can lead to spark plug fouling and a loss of power and fuel economy.
